There is a pattern between the breath, fascia, brain & nervous system. Once you are shown, you can never quite unsee it.
Did you know mouth breathing changes your face shape?
Do you know your organs depends on belly breathing?
Do you know your lungs work like a vacuum?
Do you know your toes and your lung function are connected?
Brooke is a classically trained singer who learned an operatic style of breathwork at 12 years old. "I was diaphragmic breathing & running on a treadmill while belting Led Zepplin before school. My vocal coaches had disagreements on how to properly expand the lung field and that just opened a rabbit hole for me," she explains.
In college she played Division 1 golf, learning at Sun Belt tournaments how to managed her emotions and nerves under pressure. "I could take exams and breathe, but hitting a ball over water or making a 3 ft putt under pressure did something internally that made me hyperventilate and want to puke" she described. She quit the sport after college after feeling she didn't have enough nervous system control to handle the adrenaline spike of pro tournaments.
She began to teach breathwork in group settings in 2016 at a Pure Life Health Centers in Delray Beach gaining a cult following with her hyperventilation techniques combined with candle lit lanterns, moon cycles & hand holding. "This was an experimental time. I was playing with rhythmic breathing, inducing the nervous system to climax then blissing them out on an induced adrenaline crash. I was doing short holotropic classes with rhythmic breathing, which is accidentally similar to Whim Hof's method. This style is excellent for people with low brain waves, like depression or fatigue. The style I teach now is based on strengthening the breathing muscles & slowing the brain waves down consciously, which is ideal for the athletic, frail, overworked, stressed or anxious person. "
Brooke created her lecture classes to illustrate the anatomy of respiration, how it interacts with our brain waves & the need for coherence between the body & brain. Built for visual and demonstrative learners this class answers the unanswered questions of "why" and "how" of breathing and stress. She is building a one-of-a-kind skeleton to display the biotensegrity that holds us together. She says, "These classes are the foundation for my weekly groups. It's the science and the visuals that give the sequences the power."
"When we see the link of how our body's store stress in our fascia, how stress/pleasure moves through our nervous system and how our brain regulates thoughts we realize our breathing rhythm is the most important facet to mental health" she explains "it's very simple at the core, we just need to see how, that's why the diagrams and pictures are so important."
This class is full of mind-altering practical exercises. It is always finished with a breath sequence with live music. As a musician she always brings her harmonium, crystal pyramid, harp, guitar, ukelele, Chinese erhu or Nordic talharpa to play.
"I was a division 1 Golfer in college and when I applied the new sequences to my golf game I began breaking par. Ironically it was long after college competition was done and when I left my dreams of being a tour professional. I train golfers now and hope they will rely on these sequences the way I wish I could then" she says.
Her band Enter The Stargate is her passion outside of Musical Breathwork and they record in Palm Beach, Florida with famed Metal musician Ruston Grosse. Endorsed by Luna, Dean & DDrum they play next at Hulaween Music Festival 2023 on the full moon at Suwanne River in Live Oak, FL.
